NuFlick is a film crowd distribution service focused on building a connected community of filmmakers and film enthusiasts. We help independent film artists publish, promote and share their films. Fans can enjoy a catalog of free films and support the artists they like so the can continue creating new projects.
You can watch any movie in the site by unlocking them with social interactions, invite 5 of your friends to unlock the movie with you and the 6 of you can watch it for free. Once you have watched the movie, you can support the artists behind the film by contributing for any amount, in exchange you obtain rewards surrounding the movie or the artist, for example: the movie download, soundtrack, special screenings, etc. Rewards can vary a lot.
It means that the success of sustainable digital distribution is on the audience, if you like a movie support the artist, it is thanks to you (and everybody else) that these filmmakers can continue creating new work and reaching a bigger audience and plus, you get cool rewards!
Yes and no. Like other crowd funding sites we aim to create a community where everybody supports artists and creators in exchange for rewards. There are some differences, projects are not to be done, they are already finished but need a space for exposure. Movies don’t have a goal amount or due date, think of it as ongoing campaigns trying to reach as much as possible.
Most indie film catalogs are very traditional: you find a movie, watch it, done. We are focused not only on finding interesting material for your enjoyment, but also in creating a tight connection between viewers and artists. By contributing to a project/artist you know exactly where your money is going and the impact this will have and you even get rewards for being so cool!
There are a couple of reasons for this: Smooth Streaming, which allows you to move from one part to the movie to another without having to wait for it to buffer; Adaptive Streaming, this means that depending on your Internet connection you’ll have a quality of video delivered, if your connection is low, the video might not be as good, but it will continue to flow, without you having to wait for it to buffer; File Protection, with the encoding we use, every file is partitioned in different little pieces, preventing it from being downloaded.
